By leveraging existing data points such as flow rates, pH levels, temperature, and rainfall, the Soft Sensor accurately predicts phosphorus concentrations, enabling real-time adjustments in chemical dosing. 

Consequently, the BSS Soft Sensor prevents unnecessary chemical usage, resulting in reduced operational costs, enhanced efficiency, and decreased CO2 emissions, while ensuring compliance with regulatory discharge standards. Furthermore, our Soft Sensor is highly customisable and allows for continuous adaptation to unique requirements and evolving functionalities.

Reducing chemical usage over 20%

The BSS Soft-Sensor was developed in collaboration with  VandCenter Syd (VCS), and was first implemented at Otterup WWTP. Here, the BSS Soft sensor underwent empirical testing and continuous refinemnet, and eventually developed to become a scalable and cost-effective solution for wastewater treatment. 

At Otterup WWTP, the BSS Soft Sensor has since its installation in the fall of 2023 achieved a 20% reduction in chemical consumption, lowering operational costs and cutting CO₂ emission, contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective wastewater treatment process.
